Was MTV Inevitable In Some Form?

As an indie artist, I feel a huge need to present my music in video form - thanks to YouTube, Vimeo, etc. These are among the biggest venues for independent artists to get their music exposed these days. Gone are the days of radio, big MTV video releases, and album hits.

That's a lot of pressure to expand my creativity to another form of art. It's fun, but a lot of work. So the question that occurred to me today is, was MTV inevitable in some form? Namely, YouTube music?

Yeah, no doubt, given the rise of technology. Bastards.
